How to prepare for EMC
This is an introductory class to teach you about the requirements for the advanced floral education available in these European schools. EMC in Belgium is one of the most prestigious accreditations in the world, this certification is career-defining.
I walk you through what to expect, how to prepare, and how to qualify for a scholarship. This class is a great way to make a small investment to test the waters and see if this pathway is right for you.
EMC Keywords
Get a head start on the EMC language! EMC has transformative keywords to help you understand why you design the way you do. This language will elevate you as a designer and give you confidence when speaking to clients.
This emphasis on specific language and keywords came as a surprise to me, and I have developed a class to ease the transition, prepare, and put you in a position to succeed in the EMC curriculum. I wish I had taken this class before I started on my EMC journey!
EMC Color Theory
Ton Sur Ton? Passive versus active? Get ahead to understand how EMC discusses color. In this color theory class, you will learn all the basics needed to explain color palettes, contrasts, and 3-D Hues.
This class will show you firsthand how to interpret your design using the trademark EMC Color Wheel.
Nomenclature
The Nomenclature exam and assignment are required to pass the EMC program and they are not small tasks. I walk you through the best ways to study and digest over 300 flower names and best practices for passing the exam.
I expand on WHY the practical use for proper nomenclature is important, its application, and HOW this knowledge elevates you as a Designer and your floral career.
Armatures
Dive deep into the wonderful world of bouquet structures. In this class you will explore different mediums into making spiderweb, stained-glass, and handmade chicken wire armatures.
Holiday/Seasonal
As James Taylor sings: "Winter, Spring, Summer and Fall; all you have to do is call". In this call to the seasons you will learn European-inspired holiday and seasonal designs.
Free standing hand-tied bouquet frames
In this class you will be introduced to a high level of craftsmanship inspired by German Master Florist, Gregor Lersch. A double dreamcatcher, a woven vase, and a diagonal nest.
Displacement
Explore the magic of displacement! In this class you will learn single, double, goose neck and garland displacement styles. Before, this class was exclusively taught in Europe, but now I am bringing it home to the U.S. and my students abroad.
